First Aid Awareness

It is a requirement that all care workers are ‘first aid aware’ which is legally different to being a ‘first aider’, therefore you must understand the difference.

Every shift must have at least one appropriately qualified first aider on duty at all times (we advise use of The Red Cross, St John Ambulance etc. for this).

However, topping-up first aiders’ knowledge, making non-first aiders ‘aware’ of first aid issues can, legitimately, be taught in-house. Our training resources fall into this category (do not buy DVDs etc. under the false belief they train legally acceptable first aiders, which they do not).
